Q. Do all CORTAID® products contain hydrocortisone?

A. No. While most CORTAID® products contain 1% hydrocortisone, the CORTAID® Poison Ivy Care Treatment Kit does not contain hydrocortisone.

Q. How many times a day can I apply CORTAID® hydrocortisone products?

A. CORTAID® hydrocortisone products should not be applied more than 3-4 times daily.

Q. How long can I use a CORTAID® hydrocortisone product?

A. This product can be used for up to 7 days. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, or if the condition worsens, or clears up and occurs again within a few days, you should consult a physician.

Q. What itch conditions can I use a CORTAID® hydrocortisone product for?

A. CORTAID® hydrocortisone products are effective in providing maximum strength itch relief for itching associated with minor skin irritations, inflammation and rashes due to: - Eczema, seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis - Poison ivy, poison oak or poison sumac - Insect bites - Reactions to soaps, detergents, cosmetics or jewelry. For other uses of these products, please consult a physician.

Q. Can I use CORTAID® hydrocortisone products on all body parts?

A. CORTAID® hydrocortisone cream and ointment products are safe to apply to most body parts, but should not be applied to the face or on eyes or eyelids.

Q. What is the difference between CORTAID® Intensive Therapy Moisturizing Cream and CORTAID® Intensive Therapy Anti-Itch Lotion?

A.Both products combine maximum strength hydrocortisone with an intensive 24 hour moisturizing formula to provide maximum strength itch relief while helping to heal dry, itchy skin fast. The fast-absorbing, easy to spread Lotion is perfect for larger areas of dry, itchy skin, like arms or legs.

Q. Do I need to cover the area after I apply a CORTAID® hydrocortisone product?

A. No, we do not recommend you cover an affected area after applying a CORTAID® hydrocortisone product.

Q. Do any CORTAID® products contain any vegetable or animal products?

A. CORTAID® Maximum Strength Cream contains aloe vera, a plant extract that acts as a moisturizer and conditioner. Additionally, among the inactive ingredients of CORTAID® Maximum Strength Ointment is a purified cholesterol which is of animal origin.

Q. Can CORTAID® hydrocortisone products be used on children?

A. Yes, CORTAID® hydrocortisone products are approved for use on children 2 years of age and older. You should consult a physician before using on children under the age of 2.
For cases of external anal itch, CORTAID® hydrocortisone products are approved for children over the age of 12.

Q. Are CORTAID® hydrocortisone products safe to use if you are diabetic?

A. Please consult a doctor before using if you are a diabetic.

Q. Are CORTAID® hydrocortisone products safe to use while pregnant?

A. As with any medication, if you are pregnant or nursing a baby, seek the advice of a healthcare professional before using this medication.

Q. Can I still go out in the sun after I apply a CORTAID® hydrocortisone product?

A. There are no known contraindications with CORTAID® hydrocortisone products. It should be fine to apply a CORTAID® hydrocortisone product and then still go out in the sun.

Q. Are there any drug interactions while using a CORTAID® product?

A. There are no known drug interactions while you are using a CORTAID® product.

Storage and Shelf Life Information


Q. Will anything happen if any CORTAID® hydrocortisone product is refrigerated?

A. As instructed on the package, CORTAID® is to be stored at room temperature. If not, we cannot guarantee its effectiveness.

Q. Are CORTAID® hydrocortisone products still effective if the color changes?

A. If the product has changed color, it should be discarded and replaced.

Q. Can I use CORTAID® products after the expiration date?

A. Please see the end of carton, bottle or tube crimp for lot number and expiration date. We do not recommend using CORTAID® products after they have expired.
